Prevent Injuries at Play
Physical activity is an interesting "mechanism of injury". Its true that people of all ages suffer injuries directly related to their participation in sport, recreation or other physical activities. However, unlike other mechanisms of injury there is a tremendous benefit to individuals and their communiites when engaging in physical activity. These benefits include improved physical, mental, and social health and we knoe that participation in physical activity can actually reduce the healthcare costs associated with in activity such as obesity and obesity-related chronic disease, isolation and depression, falls and much more.
Sport, recreation, physical activity and leisure should be enjoyed regularly by everyone of every age. These activities should enhance our lives, and not result in injury, disability or death. In this section you will find resources and information on sport, recreation and physical activity.
