                                    Cottage Safety

For some, a cottage is their "home away from home".  Here are some safety considerations for your cottage.
                                    • Be prepared for all weather conditions - bring rain gear and clothes that can be layered.
                                    • Make sure your cottage is equipped with smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors and test them every time you visit
                                    • Know where the closest hospital is and have emergency phone numbers posted along with your cottage address
                                    • Make sure your cottage is identifiable for 9-1-1 responders
                                    • Have a first aid kit including fast acting antihistamines for allergic reactions and "syrup of ipecac" to induce vomiting
                                    • Keep an emergency flash light with new batteries in a convenient location and you won't have to search for it when the power goes out
As a recognized leader and an advocate for injury prevention, the Toronto Area Safety Coalition believes that safety is a right of all people and that injuries are predictable and preventable. We are committed to reducing the number of injuries and injury-related deaths in our community through collaboration and education.
